SPHLS May Bulletin

Greetings!

Well May is here and after a bit of delay, the lobster traps are set.  As summer is just around the corner, here are the anticipated dates of SPHLS activities for your day timers.

Saturday, July 6th : Lighthouse Illumination
Those who attended the AGM last August will remember the interesting presentation Bill Morton gave on how our lighthouse will be illuminated.
The batteries, lights and solar panels are now all on site and in readiness for hook up.  Join us at dusk for a wee celebration on the beach.

Friday, July 19th ; the Morell River Run Parade
The SPHLS joins this great community event for the first time.  Our lighthouse float, an 8 ft. tall replica, has been commissioned under the direction of John Flinn.  So come out and share the walk!!!  Festive attire encouraged ; lighthouse top hats anyone?

Saturday August 4th : The Lighthouse Climb
Another first timer and should be great fun, not only for the kids, but for the kid in all of us!  Plan on bringing family and friends to make the climb, just as our light keepers did for so many years...and enjoy the view!!

Monday August 19th : Harbour NIght at the Holy Cow
Our first major fund raiser since the Raffle.  This time a special fun filled evening with drinks and dinner at the Holy Cow, and including a live auction and music.  Linda Anderson, JoAnne Morton, Paulette Bourgeois and Debbie Barton-Moore are well into the planning.  It promises to be a great event.  As space will be limited, tickets will be made available in advance.

Thursday August 29th ; the fifth Annual AGM
The AGM has proven to be a most pleasant evening to share information, chili and cheer at the end of the SPHLS season.  This year we will have two major items on the agenda - apart from our 2018 financial statements.
The first - what should be the focus of the SPHLS be, now that restoration is completed?
The second - election of a new Board of Directors.  The 5 year term of most of the Executive comes to completion with this meeting.  All positions are open.
We will be canvassing those interested over the summer!!

Membership Payment
The year-end for our 2018 statement concludes at the end of May (this month).  So for those individual and family members who have yet to pay their annual dues ($10 and $20 respectively), you can send along a cheque to the SPHLS c/o Ann Doyle, 4 Lakeview Lane, RR#2, Morell, PE, C0A 1S0.  You can also make an e-transfer to our account at the Credit Union, [email protected].
And of course further donations are always welcome.  Thanks ahead for your payments!!

Finally, SPHLS T-shrits will be available for purchase in early July.

It will be quite a busy summer!!! Be looking for additional bulletins and further information on all events as their times approach.
